Important Announcement: Jahn Self-Cure Mortar

Dear Valued Customers,

Cathedral Stone Products is again innovating for the masonry restoration and preservation industry. Our mission is to produce the most compatible, long-lasting, and safest masonry restoration and maintenance products available.

In August of 2023, we announced that our Self-Cure mortars would now be our default, stocked product. Since that time, customers have overwhelmingly favored Self-Cure over our Traditional Cure.

Our plan was always to find the right time to remove Traditional Cure as an option. We believe that time is now.

Effective immediately, you will no longer see an option to choose between Self-Cure and Traditional Cure when ordering online. All Jahn Mortars will be made as Self-Cure.

Jahn Self-Cure Mortars are compatible, long-lasting, and, now, worry free!

We have continued to test the Self-Cure mortars in our lab and in the field. Our results show that our Self-Cure mortars offer equal strength, durability, and compatibility as our Traditional Cure mortars. In short, everything you want to happen with traditional curing methods happens with the Self-Cure mortars.

With Tradition Cure mortars, everyone had to worry about curing patches or pointing work. How soon? How much? How often? It was impossible to know for sure. One had to consider: weather, temperature, sunlight, wind, humidity--it all played a part.

Now imagine not worrying about curing; imagine working on a Friday and not needing to mist patches over the weekend; imagine not needing to keep a swing stage scaffold in place so that a crew could cure the mortar the next day.

We have determined that in 90% of projects, Jahn Self-Cure Mortars can be installed and then left alone.

And the remaining 10% of projects are mostly borderline curing cases. Our line for recommending curing the Self-Cure mortar is above 85ºF (30ºC). On these projects, we recommend curing the Self-Cure as you would have cured the Traditional Cure.

It is perfectly fine, although unnecessary in 90% of cases, to cure (mist) Jahn Self-Cure Mortar.

Our formula for Self-Cure mortar is proprietary, but we can tell you this: It’s natural. It doesn’t affect the mortar at all. Working with the mortar is the same. It sets up in the same amount of time. It has the same compression strength; the same bond strength, the same breathability. IT’S JAHN!

As always, our dedicated team of experts is available to address any questions or concerns you may have regarding this change. You can always write to us at tech@cathedralstone.com and we will answer any questions you have.

We value your continued partnership and appreciate your support as we strive to deliver exceptional products that meet your masonry repair and maintenance needs.

Thank you for your continued trust in Cathedral Stone Products.

Sincerely,
